CHAPTER SIX

ERIK

Bailey Moore is a wounded doe in a forest full of ravenous wolves.

I’ll fend off the darkness, and keep her safe. She’s young and brash with a soldier’s spirit—but her innocence will get her killed.

But, not while I’m around.

Holding her in my arms has made me realize my desperate need to protect her. The way she crumbled in my grip and let me bring her to safety. I’m lucky she didn’t notice my stiffening girth. My hasty escape, although to heal her ailing foot, was also taken to deal with the cumbersome erection.

It’d just be embarrassing for her to see.

I collect a first-aid kit from one of the cabinets and return to Bailey’s side. A part of me almost expects to find her to be hobbling up the driveway again, thinking of ways to escape. But, she’s still there, lying on the sofa with her injured foot dangling off the side.

Any endeavors to still my burning loins were in vain.

Bailey’s lying on her back, with her shirt hoisted above her belly. Her pale fingers dance against her smooth, creamy skin. The underside of her breasts peeks out from beneath the fabric, and my body reacts accordingly.

I’ve seen her tits before; being fondled by Erik. The image has burned itself into my mind.

“Here we go.” I use the first-aid kit to hide my manhood.

“Sensible,” Bailey says, staring at the red hamper in my hands. I can’t move it. My cheeks flush red at the thought of her seeing me tenting behind it. Please, turn away.

“The three of you don’t look the sort.” She giggles.

“It’s perfect for the little scrapes,” I say, shuffling awkwardly to my knees. Bailey crooks a brow at my odd movement but doesn’t question it. “And we get a lot of those.”

On bended knee, the length of my shaft nestles in the cradle of my loose pants. Embarrassment averted.

“I’m sure you do,” she watches me unzip the red bag, noticing nothing has been used.

“This one’s new,” I say. “Fourth one this month.”

Which is true. I grab a pad of cotton and the anti-septic ointment. I dab the cotton and it returns with a pungent odor and a perfect circle of orange against the white.

I set both down and prepare her bandage.

“So, is anything you said true?” she asks.

“Is any of what true?” I ask, snipping a length of the bandage.

“The stuff you said outside.”

“Every word.”

“So you don’t hate me?”

No; the complete opposite. I’m totally fucking infatuated with her. But, I can’t say that.

“Why would you think I hate you?” The last thing I shuffle out of the bag is a needle and threat. The cut’s too deep to heal on its own without leaving a horrible scar. I’ll have to stitch it.

“The way you’ve treated me,” she sighs. Her fingers still trail her skin. Every time I turn up to meet her eyes, I’m met by a glorious shot of her breasts.

Keep it together, Erik. You can’t perform surgery with shaky hands.

“It’s to protect you. It might be hard to believe, but.
